Rim Restoration

Get em on there. Easily done in the driveway in about an hour. Break down the rim and tire. Throw about 6oz of bb's in there, grab the new rim... a little starting fluid a little flame and an air compressor and you're good yo go. Just did my little bro's tries this way last weekend..
Well the thing is I cant make my mind up about getting them powder coated or not and if i should spend the coin and have them restored but I cant find any place that can do it for less then 900+ a rim..

Where the hell are you going to get those quotes? Shoot, I know of a place that has a few sets of these NOS rims for $247 a rim. Regardless, $900 a rim is hog wash. I could however see it topping out at $250 a rim if you bring it to an over inflated shop. The price break down I've found so far:

$20 a rim for soda blasting
$40 a rim for polishing (check big rig accessory shops)
$25-40 a rim for powder coating.

Total is $85 a rim. You're getting hosed Mike.

im thinking there is one to many 0's in there.

If that's the case, what's he complaining about. Sounds like a cheap price to pay for 'new' rims.

Good Grief- Any Trucker can rattle off half a dozen locations for decent wheel polishers! Get on the CB at Ripoff Griffin's, there, in Lubbock!

Rip Griffin's- Back when it was across from LaChuga Plaza, it was a real hellhole. Heard they built a new one out on the loop... They've earned the Name Ripoff Griffin's all over the west tho :rofl2:

Yea they have a new one, i thought it was off of 27 though, eh i dunno im never on that side of town, i stick to the north side mostly... :)
never on the east side of town, ever.

Could be. No offense, but I always avoided the Lubbock loads. Fleming Foods, Ben E. Keith, etc- High Dollar lumpers and low dollar backhauls after two-three day layovers. Just kinda puts a bad taste in the mouth, ya know?
Every day I find another reason to be thankful I'm not doing that stuff :)

If i drove for a living, i would probably do the same!

I cant say im a big fan of lubbock, actually probably the only reason im still here is cause i enjoy my job.
I already know i wont be here too much longer, place is really starting to eat at me.

I think that's something Texans say because Texas does suck. Don't get me wrong, the mentaility is awesome and some cities are great...but south and west texas suck...and east texas got to house Katrina 'victims'...and that sucks too.

west texas CAN be nice, it can also be a nasty ugly *****.
Central texas and the hill country are amazing, south texas is nice, unless your in the wrong place.
East texas is alright, but katrina victims have kinda brought that down with them.

If you stay away from the big cities texas is pretty nice most everywhere.

Again...merely ball busting Don. But I was not impressed with South or West Texas any time I visited my aunt. Central Texas does seem very nice...and my critique on east Texas was only hearsay, I haven't been there since Katrina.

Well i enjoy austin, houston is alright if you stay in the right area's.
I effing despise dallas, but again i was only there in the not so pretty area's of town.

I prefer the small towns of central texas my self.

Also one of my favorite views near here is heading south towards post when you come down off the caprock, sure is purdy.
