A friend of mine has one in his 57 Chevy, and it sounds fantastic. He didn't have to cut the dash or modify the original holes. Ive seen some at Carlisle that look factory but have new reworked insides that accomodates for the CD player and amps.

Cool site. I wonder why I never found that when I was searching for a radio. I ended up going with one of these.

They work and fit just fine, but I'm not too impressed with the quality. The radio is very light weight which to me means cheap and the sound is OK, but for the money for one of these radios I wasn't that impressed. I was like you, I didn't want to cut a new dash bezel. At first though I bought a nice CD player and cut an old bezel to practice and to see how the CD player would work and even made a bracket and everything. When I went to slide the CD player in, it hit my AC/Heater Ducting and wouldn't fit in all the way. I then didn't want to modify the Ducting to get it to fit so I went with the radio. I'm curious what people are doing to modify the ducting to make a CD player work.

I've got 2 original AM/FM radios but one I can't get to work, it lights up but no sound......the other I haven't tried yet. When I pulled it out of a parts truck it had dirt all over it and looked like it had been rained on a few times. I doubt it'll work, but I'll try.

Yeah Buck...I was thinking about getting one of those units for Red...but after doing some research and talking with Behemoth 'over there' it came to my attention that those units really aren't the best quality especially for the price. He then also put me on the units that miottimouse posted, and those seem to be about the best out there for a retro fit/look in dentsides.

I paid about $160 for mine which was more expensive than the CD player I bought and the CD player sounded much better, just couldn't get it to fit right. Now I wish I would have found those others before. Oh well, if the quality of mine is piss poor than I'm sure I'll be getting a new radio in the near future anyway.

Alright well if you do go with it...take pics of your progress and let us know how it goes. I want one...but am a little shy at shelling out $300 for a radio.

Yes...flash drive, thumb drive, jump drive...all the same thing. And yes you can put music on it and stick it in the appropriate port of the radio. Although, if you have iTunes, and try downloading it onto your jump drive, I don't think it will allow it to play. Copy right infringement...ya know.

Depends on how you acquired the music that iTunes is playing...

Right...I meant if you bought the music through iTunes...if you have iTunes set as your default player, and any CD or other music you have ripped to iTunes will work perfectly...just not music purchased from iTunes.

That looks like a really nice radio.

The USB drive and RCA outputs are awesome for an "old school" looking radio.

I had USB on the Kenwood that I sold to my brother and really liked. It was easy to use (to put music on and to play), and the cable easily reached to the glove box where I kept the drive. I'm not sure how long this cable is though.

the fellow claimed i could use my 10 pack cd changer thats one other reason i didnt go with the usa unit they have their own deck that only hooks to their own unit nothing else works i may go with a built in rf modulated unit any ways that goes through the fm and run my sat radio most of the time any ways

Well. A lil bit of force and persuasion and mine went in. The braket was hell to fab up. I stole a stock bracket out of a junk truck and cut it up. Then added some sheet metal to it that was cut out for the radio.
A old school radio does look neat.. but putting the cd player in isnt bad.

I'm not a rich man. I pulled a stock am/fm cassette radio from another 78 F250. The winshield was intact and it was still in the cab. There is a salvage yard by me where there are somes late 70's F series. Way in the back, away from the main yard, there are 3 that are fairly whole. I don't think many know they are back there behind some old tractor trailors and a small stand of trees.
