I had the rear brake line changed on my truck about a year or so ago, and it blew out today, line was fine everywhere but 1 place. By the front gas tank, it was all rotted out just there. Wierd, lucky that i went to get gas in it at my job and my friend was still there fixin his caddy so i got my tools and some line and fitting and changed it again today, i made sure to keep it up out the way and wrapped it all in old vac lines, guess redneck coated lines. Hope this one lasts longer. Took forever to do as I was helping a friend do his trans service and hes a moron. Anyway yea I hate doing brake lines.

Did you replace the entire line, or do the compression fitting thing?

Using compression fittings is hack, I cut and flare. My bad, it rotted out and the fluid blew out where it was all rotted. I replaced it all again. At least I antiseized it all the 1st time. So it came apart super easy.

I bought the flare tool while ago and my Cousins shop keeps stainless on rolls . Next 1 I replace will be the shiny stuff.

Been there done that laying on back in rain storm trying to get off shelf lines bent and to work .

Completely changing the lines by far is the best. Second is to double flare and replace only the bad section. You're right, NEVER use compression fittings on brake lines!

I would have just replaced the bad section but it was behind the gas tank along the frame rail so it was just better to change it all.
