You will have to make some brackets, the frames are different widths

Are you sure the frame is a different width? I was under the impression they were more or less the same from 1980-1996.

Was wondering if the rear bumper on a Gen.7 will work on the Gen.8 and 9 trucks

Are you sure the frame is a different width? I was under the impression they were more or less the same from 1980-1996.

I'm thinking he wants a 70's bumper on an 80's truck.

Frame is 2" wider on the 80's truck.

The beds inside ate the same , including header panels from 73 to 97. you can see in the bed floor of the newer truck, the place molded in for the body bolts on the deck. Inside mold lines 73-79, outside mold lines 80-97.

So, the answer to the question is yes, with some fab work

The only floor not molded that way is the flareside like Chris's, that has only one set of body mold, and only has 3 sets of bolts, but that bed requires it's own bumper (and tailgate)

Gen 7-8-9 bumpers (80-96/7) will interchange. Gen 6 (73-79) don`t go right on. The rear of the frame is the same width, and the bolt holes are in the same place. Now, here is the but. I took a custom rectangular tube bumper off a 78 F-250. I tried to put it on a 89 F-150. It wouldn`t slide ahead far enough to put the bolts in. So I welded it on. I think the beds on the 80 and newer trucks hang past the frame a scosh more.

Charlie is correct about the bed bolts, with the exception of the two by the tailgate. Those two interchange. F-350 scs/cab and chassis, and high boys not withstanding. I know this because I tried to put a 87 box on a 75 F-150 2wd. The rear most bolt holes lined up, but the rest didn`t.

And just to throw it out there, I took a 9" rear axle out of a 75 F-100 2wd and put it in my 87 F-150 4x4. The only issue I had was the u-joint on the axle end.
