Quick fuel vs Proform vs! EFI

FTFS Designated DRINKER!
I asked this on another site and get allot of reply's I that really didn't help me..

I'm looking in to these carbs Proform Street carbs and the Quickfuel Quick Fuel SS Carburetors.

Does any one have any real world experiences with these carbs, how well are they made and are they a little too tunable (Finicky) for a daily driver truck?

I asked this question on another site and was told to by a 600 Quick fuel and send it off to some dude which would cost like another 600 and by the time its all over I could just have gone with a EFI system for a few hundred more.

I like having a carb I love Holley my carb I like tuning my Holley carb but I would like some thing that I can get set and not mess with very much...
Any input info and or name calling would be much appreciated..
Sorry if spelling is bad, i've had a lil to much to drink :)

You probably already know my answer. QFT FTW!

Quickfuel carbs use Proform main bodies for the Q series carbs. Im not sure about the SS. They are both basically 100% custom Holleys. Every item is billet and modified for the better from a standard carb so it adjust the same.

Id go with a Quickfuel but a Proform carb is nice too. I just dont like the Purple anodize on the carb and metering blocks of Proforms.

The 750 on my 460 no. The 950 on the 521 yes.

Nature of the motor more so than the carb itself. I have to change jets every now and again and Ive done some mods to it so it handles rough tracks better. The truck with the new motor has went better than 45* vertical with all 4 tires off the ground and slammed back down in a rough pit and never stumbled.

I took the 750 out its box, pulled the Holley 750 off, bolted the new carb down, set the fuel bowl height and idle and raced that afternoon without ever touching it again until the motor blew. The performance difference was incredable and from that point on Im 100% sold on only QFT carbs.

one more thing...

Barry Grant runs a Quickfuel Dominator on his personal race car instead of a King Demon if that tells you anything.

9 times out of 10 the reason for poor performance is mismatched parts or wrong size carburetor.

Most people who slap a cam in have no idea what operating range the rest of their components run in and are suprised when it doesnt run as good as the old cam. Also, everyone thinks they must get to "Holley 750 double pumper status" and anything smaller just isnt as cool. I love racing against guys who dont do their homework. :-D

I see your using Mech secondary's have you ever had a QF that was VAC seconds?

nope. I have no reason to believe they are anything but top quality carbs though.

Mech secondarys arent meant for DDs. When I stomp the gas Im shooting an enormous amount of fuel to my motor. 1 quart per second at WOT is about right :-D

Hmmm!

Well I think I will be looking in to one of these, I like how tunable they, kinda wish I had gotten a different carb thats on my truck now..
this holley sucks..

It tunes exactly like a Holley. Its basically a modified copy with tighter tollerances and stricter quality control.

use this formula for proper carb CFM. Your volumetric efficency (VE) should be .75 for stock and .80 for a motor with upgraded intake, cam and headers.

(Engine Size CID) x (Max RPM) x VE / 3456 = CFM

YEah ok I like what your during, but to make sure you know what your talking about..
Umm why don't you tell me what umm "VE" stands for?
