Question on swapping rear ends

Hi fellow FTF. The dana 60 on my 1983 F250 2 wheel drive with a standard trans is getting pretty worn out (both axle seals are leaking, brakes worn and drums need turning, etc.) There is a full floating Sterling 10.25 rear end for sale from an 1988 F350. It has 3.55 ratio rear end which really appeals to me since my dana 60 has 4.10's, and with no over drive, rev's get up there at only 55 mph. My questions are,

Is this a direct swap?

I know that I may have to swap the yoke for the drive shaft, are the splines the same? If not, then what

Does the 1988 have abs and speed sensor? Will the brakes work normally without the electronics?

He's asking $250, and says the mileage on the rear end is 109,000 miles and everything is working fine. He swapped to a 4.10 rear end but wondering why he changed the whole rear end.:suspicious:

thanks :wavey:

I'm not much help, Roy, but I do know my '89 F-250 has rabs and speed sensor. I don't see why the brakes wouldn't work with the speed sensor disconnected.

The ABS sensor will not cause any issues with the function of the brakes, that is done by the abs unit on the frame rail under the master cylinder. The sensor does make for a nice fill point...

I looked up the u-joints at the rear axle, and they are the same one for both applications. Be sure it is not a dually rear end though.
