Question for 92 F250

Hey You all,
7.5 liter, 451. Won't start, not the battery, fuel pumps turning on, replacing solenoid today, but wondering about the ignition. It looks like someone previous did some home improvements on it. How common is it for these ignition switches to come undone, what about the sensor that tells the truck its in park and okay to start?

I'm new to Ford and love my truck, anything helps, thanks.

Welcome to the board and the world of Fords. The 7.5 liter is the 460 big block engine. You need 3 things to make an engine start/run: fuel, air and spark. That being said, start simple...make sure you've got fuel in the rail (there's a schrader valve on the rail itself, it looks like a valvestem) and spark from the coil.

Your fuel rail should look similar to this, the left side being the front of the engine and the right side of the picture being the back of the engine. The schrader valve will be in the same placement as where it is in the bottom left corner of the fuel rail. In another term, on the corner of the fuel rail above the number 5 cylinder. And yes, push it to make sure there's fuel but please please, watch your eyes. preferably by wearing safety glasses.

Okay, depressed the valve and nothin happened. The nubbin' in the center of the valve was pretty deep, did I press it down far enough I wonder.

I'm doing laundry in a strange city and am hardly wearing any clothes so I didn't feel all that comfortable hanging out outside for too long.

Are you sure you crossed the terminals correctly? Make sure the terminal clamps are clean and tight. Also, make sure the ground from the battery to the frame is clean and tight. Do you get any lights on at all on the dash?

He said the key was messed up ??? Could be linkage issues .Its common for the shift linkage to wear not let it sense its in park .
So he has no power ? Check all connections on seleniod.

Good luck

Okay, I got ya junior, Yes, jumped properly, battery taken out, cleaned, charged, retightened, grounded to fender and block, getting lights on dash, getting headlights if I want em'
