Pulling front fender

Has anybody recently removed a front inner and outer fender on one of these trucks? It's been so long that I don't remember.

I need (want) to pull the inner and outer fender off of the driver side to gain better access to the broken ex. manifold bolts.

Can I pull them out without unbolting the rad core and grill?

I think you do have to remove some of the bolts that secure the fenders to the rad support/grille, but if I recall from my own, I don't thing you need to remove the rad support/grille.

Been a while since I've pulled one as well...but should be less than a half dozen bolts to the grille/support. But no, you don't need to pull it all off.

If it's not original and you want to mess with it go ahead and
take that stuff off, just know the fender's got a jillion bolts in
it and re-aligning everything is going to be a cool-new-project
for you. ;)

Not saying not to, I'm just saying it isn't going to be "easy". ;)

ps- Where you at? You in the rust belt? Fill out your stuff------------------------^

A Jillion bolts? There were probably 20 or so... This is not my first time around the block.

Going to pull the three broken studs out tomorrow, headers should arrive in the next day or so. :D

Thanks for the help guys, I did make alignment marks before I started, and taped all the fender/door/hood edges off before I removed them. I treat this thing like it's brand new!

Naw, I'll let you count them the next time you pull a fender.

Needed a new fender after "a gal in a 5.0 Mustang with no brakes" ran into me
making a left turn, but I went and put off buying a new fender until after Ford
ran out of 'em. So I bought an aftermarket one. Better to use a truck for parts
than use any of that crap on it! :/ Rust belter's mileage might vary on that? ;)

So changed it out again with one I got off Craig's List.

You know, that metal isn't so much thin, as soft from not being work hardened
to a certain yield strength. The rubber bumper on the front corner of the hood
dented the fender, so it'd shake like crazy! :( I increase the bumper's size and
it just dented the soft sucker -more-. It just plain ol' didn't have the strength
to hold the hood in place, that's all there is to it.

For this crazy tinkerer a mis-matched fender with the wrong chrome or wrong
color is -way- better than that shaking-hood crap! That got on my nerves.

Also the aluminum grill shell is the same thing, not so much thin as soft.

ps- Later talked to the gal on the phone about the insurance company claims
people trying to rip us off and she totaled her boyfriend's little red convertible
5.0 Mustang. The trick is to get your truck appraised! And make copies of all
the automotive receipts you can get your hands on. So I didn't let 'em rip me
off.
