problems with aftermarket radio in 78 F250

I have a pioneer aftermarket cd player/headunit that I have hooked up in my truck. everything works except its not getting any FM channels. my coax antennea cable fits and I have an antennea off a 77 f100. The radio picks up the local AM channel, but no FM channels at all. I check to see if it still picked up the AM station without the coax and it did not. I have no idea if my truck origianally had an AM radio or if the f100 i got the antenna off of originally. had an AM radio or if that makes any difference. The radio is used, so I don't have the slightest clue.

I would suspect the radio if it works on AM with the antenna connected.

You're sure you actually got to FM1,FM2,FM3 ?

it was the radio, bought a different one and works fine
