Problem With New Temp Gauge

Today I installed the senders and wired the new gauges I put pictures of on the forum the other day. The problem is that the new temp gauge is reading high I think. After letting it idle for a few minutes it was reading 200 degrees. I took it for a run and the temp did not come down. I read online that a bad ground will usually cause a gauge to read high so I took the ground wire off, cleaned it, sanded the spot on the firewall where it was connected and then screwed the connector back onto the firewall. That made no difference.

The only other possibility I can think of is that maybe the adapter for the sender is somehow blocking the water passage in the block? I had to go to Home Depot and buy a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter to install the sender for the temp gauge. When I put the sender in the adapter and tightened it sticks past the end of the adapter about 1/4". Would that affect anything inside the block?

What temp is your thermostat? If 190, then I wouldn't worry at all about the temp, although, I wouldn't worry about it much even if your thermostat temp is lower... 200 is right around normal.

Thanks Fellro. I haven't changed the thermostat since I bought this truck several months ago so I don't know what degree it is. It's just that when I had the stock gauge panel installed, the temp gauge never went past the half way mark between C and H, so it alarmed me when I put the aftermarket gauge in and it is reading around 200. I live in New Mexico so I would rather it runs a bit cooler. I'll keep my eye on it to see if it gets any hotter on the dial.
