Today I installed the senders and wired the new gauges I put pictures of on the forum the other day. The problem is that the new temp gauge is reading high I think. After letting it idle for a few minutes it was reading 200 degrees. I took it for a run and the temp did not come down. I read online that a bad ground will usually cause a gauge to read high so I took the ground wire off, cleaned it, sanded the spot on the firewall where it was connected and then screwed the connector back onto the firewall. That made no difference.
The only other possibility I can think of is that maybe the adapter for the sender is somehow blocking the water passage in the block? I had to go to Home Depot and buy a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter to install the sender for the temp gauge. When I put the sender in the adapter and tightened it sticks past the end of the adapter about 1/4". Would that affect anything inside the block?
