possible purchase of a 1980 f100 flareside

I have the opportunity to buy a 1980 f-100 but it has the holy (Swiss cheese) frame. I am concerned it may not hold up or be any good. The frame is not rusty just has a ton of holes in it from the factory.

Are these frames OK or should I just pass on the truck and look for something else?

It's a light duty truck so the frame is fine, unless you're going to drop in a monster big block with 700HP, lol. I have a friend that has had no problems with his '80 flareside. They key is like you stated, no rust.

Dont load a cord of wood in it (like you could anyways) and drive through mountain roads. other than that you should be fine.

just be warned, the swiss cheese frames arent exactly made for massive weight or horse power.

Since the frame isn't rusty and has held up just fine for 34+ years, what the heck are you worried about?
