Well rotated my junk tires today... Found i have a broken front coil spring on the passengers side... Glad the only piece thats held into place is the first broken coil.. (YAY) Wish me luck with my drive to work this week with the risk of having my broken coil shoot out of the passenger side of my truck, pop my tire and possible damage my fender.. LOL wow im a happy camper

smiliegitrdone [confused]

I got pics il have to send them from my phone to my computer..

With a tech question. If i get the leveling springs.. Will my stock shocks still have an ok amount of travel? Il probably buy new off road shocks within the next couple of weeks...

This ruined my next weekend plans of going to the sand dunes and playing around with the fourwheeler.. And possible a couple of weekends to build up enough money in the bank to sell the bronco and buy something newer.

Sucks for you...but a great time for a lift...sounds like a plan to me. As for the shocks, afaik you should be fine, just no serious articulation.

Well after explaining to the parts guy at autozone what a coil spring was and how it differs from a shock... I got a set of stock HD springs coming.

Guessing i should get the HD springs since i have the snow plow prep package?

But yea its a great time for a lift. Just dont want to spend much more money on the truck because of the new toy and saving for more toys. And also id have to get a 50 dollar alignment..

Heres a pic of my broken spring...

Sucks because theres only 89K miles on these stock springs...

I coulda told you that you went to an autozone if you hadn't stated that...bunch of dumbazzes at the ones around me. That does suck that the springs were so young but still broke. I can understand saving for toys...if stock works...go with it.

Also my pops thinks i need to rent a spring compressor to get the good non broken spring out.. But i think i can just unbolt the shocks, lift the truck up by the frame and pull it out and put the new one in rite?

Yup, the axle will sag enough with the shock unbolted. Personally, I wouldn't take the chance of driving it like that though. CAn you catch a ride until the new ones get in?

Well... I have no other ride at the moment. My moms tauras is here. But the front subframe is rotted and the lower A arm is falling off. Im in better shape than her.

My work is only 3 miles away from my house, all country backroads. So il limp it. Pops dont work tuesday so i can either drive his truck or he can drop me off.

ooo ouch. That looks fun :(

I had the springs off our little ranger a couple weeks ago(to shim them), needed a sacrificial 1-1/8 boxend wrench(had to cut the open end off) and a 5 foot piece of 1" black iron pipe to get the nuts off.

I got a half inch breaker bar and a cheater bar. Im guessing i have to hold that nut from spinning at the same time correct.... I got the springs today. Just gotta find the time.. Untill then, il be in the POWERSTROKE ;)

ehhh you MAY have to hold the bolt coming up through......when we did the lift on my tuck the spring just twisted around and came off so best case scenario......you an do that and get the springs off....uhhhhh spray the nut down with something too and get ALOT of leverage..they are a B*TCH!!!!!
