Plow Time

So Yes I had a plow for the truck, 8ft Free Meyer. Then I went and installed Meyer classic mounts on the truck. Now I bought a EZ Mount Plus 8.5" plow, and picked up the ez mount plus truck frame. Now I get to swap it all again!

If you weren't so far away, I would ask what you are going to do with the old one.. I don't want to spend a lot on a plow, but would kind of like to have one for my own use. Just need to clear my lane, and maybe my parents. I have a Western mount that came with a parts truck... I figure for my needs I can build one if I have to from a 3 point mount type. Might even make a mount that works with the Deere blade my dad has, which is would be a bolt up type, then swap it back in when the warmer weather comes back.

Just get the ears for the western and weld em onto whatever you want. I have all the parts for the crap lookin plow also. New pivot pin tubes/pins, poly front cover, trip spring adjusters. And I was gonna just clean and paint it all. But with the 8.5 now I have no idea lol.

I don't know squat about getting a load like that on, but it might be such that something can be worked out. Even with shipping will be less than what you are looking at. Most of the pickup plows around here are well over $1000. I don't think I want to put one of those on a 3/4T though...

I got the plow mounts on last night, and hooked the new plow up tonight. I had to swap the wiring on the E61H due to it having 1 big connector with all the pins. Had to swap it to the classic wiring of 3 bullet connectors, and 2 main power wires. The E61H uses Deutsch connectors vs the single wire coils on the old style pumps.

When I tried the pump nothing, my buddy stopped by to help remove the old framing out of my bed, and I hit the pump motor while he tapped up, got the motor going, but the plow just moved right. I then took the pump inside and took it all apart, cleaned it, and reassembled it. Found a broken valve in 1 coupler that was making it go right only. The pump motor was way too corroded to get apart without destroying it so I borrowed one from my other plow pump. I will have to get another one now. I also have to fix a stripped port in the PA Valve block, supposed to be 3/4-16 so I will see in the am!

Im thinking I will have to weld some holes up! Truck has been drilled more then a porn start!

Finished up the E61H today, fixed the stripped hose port on the valve block, put a rebuilt motor on it, got all the hoses and couplers worked out, need to make the plow look good now, and see if I can change the pivot pins just for my peace of mind!


The way they had the hoses, and they were backward on the pump so the directions were reversed on the controller

The garage came that way! My landlord doesnt do anything right, hammers nails through the top side of the shingles and the puts silicone over it!

More work on the C8.5 today. I changed the pivot pins, drilled the king bolt and put a cotter pin. Fixed the plow guides, adjust the trip springs also!

It also came apart mega easy, thats a good thing!

I managed to score a Western blade, pump and mount from a 79 F150 that had been sitting for quite a while for $500. I have been able to get the motor spinning. It seems to build pressure, but nothing seems to work. I imagine it will need torn down and gone through. I will have to fab up a mount to put it on eventually, as the blade mount for the truck does not have the light and pump mount, those would have stayed with the blade. The F150 mount is the old style that made the bumper stick a long ways out, and kept the pump mounted to the truck all the time.

Post up some pics of what you have Roger. When you ran the pump motor, did you manipulate the control valves at the same time? If you didn't, the motor will run, but nothing will work.

It's an old cable controlled type. I would move the control like the cable would with the motor running. When I switch direction, I can hear the pressure release.
