picture of the jack under the hood

call me and idiot, but i can never get the jack back in the right spot easily. i've had it out laying in my garage a couple weeks. i just fiddled around and got it back in there, but didn't have my camera handy. does anyone have a picture of how it goes in there. it'd be a very handy reference for the future.

again, i got it in there, but if someone has a pic, that'd be great - otherwise i'll end up going to take one

They can be fun . That strap that holds the jack can slide on the bar it mounted on and be a real pain till u figure it out.

You missed the little bar thingie the thread was about a few weeks ago. :(

Oh..My jack (explorer) does not go under the hood. It has a little compartment of its own in the back of the vehicle (in the side wall).

yea, it was this one. i knew what that thing was, but always have to fiddle with the jack way too long to get it in easily

The explorer jack needs to be cranked down all the way to put it in. Then you turn it a part of a round (maybe a whole round-has a star wheel on it) and it is trapped between two plates. That is what keeps it from sliding around in the little compartment in there.

The jack handle (lug wrench) snaps into clips on the compartment cover.

The "thing" folds in half and resides in two clips behind the rear seat. You get it in and out by folding the seat down. It is hidden as well.

Not that anyone asked about the explorer. I just like the way it is hidden and not getting all nasty under the hood.

My 89 ranger had the jack and lug wrench behind the seat (until I put two 12" subs back there). The "thing" was under the hood like the big trucks though.
