Well i got some parts today. GT-40 Heads, 1.6 RR, Downs valve covers, and a complete MAF setup, but sadly they are not for the truck, but for the mustang. I figured since the parts are for our year, id ask some questions.
There going on a 5.0 HO but ill be putting them on a new block(that I havent got yet) Is there any places in the GT-40 heads that can be worked to make them flow better? They look pritty good now, they came out of a race capri. The valve springs are aftermarket and look good. Maybe yall can shed some light on them. Im prob going to be puttin them on a 331 stroker block, still undecied, going to be supercharged as well. Anyway 640 for everything. Let me know what yall think.

Might I say that you stole that...first off the heads alone are worth that...as far as Iknow the problem area on these heads (I say that because they're on my truck) are the thermactor humps in the exhaust ports...Conanski is damn good with advice on these kinda things...you might also consider larger valves not that you know 1.87 and 1.54 isn't large enough already...now, did you get 1.6 rockers or 1.7's?I might want the 1.6's heh heh.....not a bad dealall the way around dude nice job and goodluck.

PS might wanna also consider getting stud girdles for the rockers as well and at least gasket match all the ports like I did......it improves the flow, efficiency, and torque.

Ahh. Get a small lift cam, and with the 1.7's it should be the same as the bigger one. lol.

Can't really tell from the pics but it looks like the exhaust ports may have already been worked over, they appear to be the full width of the gasket anyway. If max HP is the goal then porting everything is what you want to do, and don't forget the lower intake ports, they are often smaller than the openings in the heads.

Lower intake ports, do you mean in the intake manifold?

might find one of the comp cam grinds especially for blowers.....at least that way you can get the grind specs and search around for a more budget friendly cam....

When it comes to cars, my budget dont matter. If I want it, ill get it, even if I have to pay alot for it.

Friend of mine picked up the Comp 35-351-8 for his Stang, his setup will be similar to yours, Edelbrock Performer heads, Cobra intake, and cam on an otherwise stock HO bottom end. He also has a Powerdyne blower for his car.

Paul, how does he like that cam? How does it sound? Choppy idle?

Don't know yet, it's still a work in progress. I doubt it will have a noticable idle though.. it's an EFI friendly blower cam.
