Ed's site just awoke.

E5TZ-17723-A / Available from Ford / MSRP: $102.85 / PARTSGUYED.COM price: $77.05.

NOTE: While the 1980/89 & 1990/2001 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalogs list this mirror head for the right side, Ed's site says left side.

The Ford Parts Locator is also awake. It also says: Left / Dealer net cost for this puppy is: $61.71.

Since Dennis has the mirror head, he can verify which side is which by the shape of it.

I'd be willing to bet that the parts catalogs are correct...while the websites are wrong...for one very good reason.

When there are specific right & left O/S mirrors or mirror heads for a specific vehicle, the A part number suffix usually refers to the right (passenger) side.

The left (drivers) side would have a B suffix.

Damn Sean, if my financial situation was better, i'd take those off your hands. I actually only need a passenger side, as the current passenger side mirror I have has the obnoxiously larger arm, and doesn't match the driver's side. It's not factory either, like the driver's side is. They have the wrong heads though, i've been tossing around the idea of putting the period correct mirror heads on. Finding them is the fun part.

I can just save them for you if you want them. They've been here for awhile now and only brought them out because of this thread and thought they might help someone out.

Not tryin' to rain on anyone's parade, but...there were a gazillion different versions of these Type 9 mirrors.

There were 4 different versions (D4TZ-17696-A, D6TZ-17696-A, D8TZ-17696-A & D8TZ-17696-B) just for 1973/79 F100/350's & 1978/79 Bronco's. They look the same at first glance, but looks can be deceiving.

For example: ^ ^ Notice the length of the upper and lower door mounting brackets.^ ^ These are much shorter than Fordzilla80's Type 9 mirror.

Also notice how the upper door mounting bracket is curved. There were flat versions also. The lengths of the goose necked arm varied, and some were flat, some were rounded.

1980/97: There were single position and dual position. 1985/97: There were Aero versions.

Type 9 mirrors were used on: 1975/91 Econolines, 1978/96 Bronco's; 1984/90 Bronco II's, 1983 and later Rangers, 1973/96 F100/350's, 1985/97 F(Super Duty), 1986/97 Aerostar.

Correction, only my passenger side mirror is the long arm version. The one I have on the driver's side is exactly like the mirrors in the pic Sean posted, with the same head, arm, and mounts. I prefer the one on the driver's side, since the long arm one looks too big for a "light duty" truck like mine.

I dunno what the passenger side looks like, since there's no pic in your gallery that shows the right side.

And I confused the shiny part of the mirror arm that butts into the mirror bracket on the left side as part of the bracket.
