The 85 in my sig has a 302 and its bored .030 over and has the stock crank with a 268 cam and itll pull almost as much as my 76 it just has the nose up a bit. It also has one of the first years of fuel injection on it so it gives it a little more power than a carb but not much.

Don't take me wrong, I have nothing against the 302, I just figure instead of stroking a 302, stroke a 351 for the same amount of dough and grab the extra cubes.

Yeah, but I like spending his money, lol.

Good point. He'd probably be best off to price all the options and take it from there.

Oh just a reglar 67 cj5 with the old dauntless v6 in it. It is all stock and the tub is swiss chesse so Im thinkin of gettin a new fiberglass tub. It looks better than it is cause I did a redneck paintjob on it with 7 cans of spray paint Olive drab or close to it. The body rocks on the frame and it only has one workin brake or at least only one thats adjusted up to where it needs to be. We bought a steel hardtop with doors and roll up windows instead of sliders. The rust is very bad everywhere mostly body mounts and flintstone floors. I havent done much with it cause ive been tryin to get my truck fixed.

Them are sweet but I dont think that they would fit on the pizza cutter rims I have sittin in the garage for it the tires that go on em are only 16 by 6 or 6 and a 1/2. The tires on it now are 30x9.50x15 daytons with half tread.

Id probly have to get wheel spacers cause the wheels arent off set at all and the ones on it now hit the springs on a tight turn. But 32 should be ok for the hieght. It dont flex much and if it does its the body rockin on top of the frame. Can ya just get em at any tire place or do ya have to special order. I dont have money now for the ebay and its not goin anywhere for awhile so I have plenty of time.

Alright thanks tony for the idea. It will be a long way down the road cause I still have to go through the brakes and change the fluids in the trans and t case and do the u joints and stuff like that. The guy we bought it from bought it when it was gettin parted out so it was basicly gutted of all the switches and little stuff that it needs to be half decent.

I think your right tony I talked to the guys at Performance Unlimited and come to find out.. you'll love this piggy, but they said the best thing to go with is a 393 stroker :D Once again the pig is all knowing..

Tex,

What do you want your engine in your truck to accomplish? What type of use is your truck going to see. Towing alot, DD, off-roading, street drags. Depending on what you want to do with your truck will determine what path you choose when it comes time to rebuild or replace your engine.

Stroking an engine is great if you need low end torque for towing/pulling etc. A Ford 393 stroker or Chevy 383 stroker are great off-road & towing motors with lots of low end grunt.

But if you are looking for a DD that you want some increased performance out of but still run on regular pump gas then just bore your 302 a little when you rebuild it, put a moderate grind cam in it, fuel injection and be done with it.

Tell us what application you want to use your truck for and then we can help you narrow down your engine modification choices.
