Original steering wheel color.

Okay, recently I noticed that my steering wheel on my 70 F100 looks like it must have been painted black at some point... There is green below it. The dash is green and the seat belts... Was my steering wheel originally green? If so, what is the bestest way to get that black paint off??? Thinking that Castrol cleaner stuff, but cannot remember the name....

I'd try an auto parts store that has body work supplies.
