Hey Fellas...just wondering if anyone has ever heard of a place called 'Obsolete Ford Parts, Inc.'? The reason I ask is because I have a guy who says he bought a 73-77 grille shell back in 1999 for $199.99 from this place and never put it on his truck. The pics look good, but I can't find any info on this company and don't know if they did NOS stuff or if it's china man made stuff, the seller doesn't know which it is either. He says the PN is D6TZ-8200-A. I'm pretty sure that PN checks out. So is there any discernible difference I can tell this guy to check for so I don't waste 2 hours each way to find out it's paper thin grille shell. Thanks for any info.

They are at the Carlisle car show whenI go down,
the parts they have all appear to be NOS most still have the original paper wrapping from Ford on them.
I have bought a few Mustang parts for restores I have done.

That is the right part # for an early shell BUT that picture looks like a jap shell. Tell him to try pushing on the side of it with his thumb and I'll be it bends.

The sport wheel on the other hand looks to be in great shape. If he still has it and it isn't rusted and the grip is good I'd like to buy that if you could let him know.

That's what I was thinking too, paperwork sounded good, but visual inspection looked a tad off. I'll also let him know you want the wheel.

OK thanks Ben, hopefully that other guy didn't buy it.

I've found out that some companies will list there stuff with the Ford part numbers, but they are aftermarket parts. I can't remember which company I called on awhile back when looking for a grill shell, but on the website the grill was listed as D6TZ-8200-A, but when I called them they said it was aftermarket. The description didn't say "replacing D6TZ-8200-A".

Ben do you know if DC is selling their grills again? Just curious.

Not as of 2 weeks ago, although they did tell me later this year.

Well I contacted OFP directly and got my answer. I'm really glad to see there are still companies out there willing to tell the truth and not pawn off what they have as the best thing since sliced bread. Here's what they said:

Ben-

Good Morning. These are neither an OEM or NOS part. They are being imported. We like to sell them as "driver grades". They are very lightweight and a good grill, but if your working on a show truck we wouldn't recommend them as they are imported. If you need anymore information please let me know and we'll be happy to help. Hope that helped!

Buck...the last catalog I got a month or so ago said they were still having a difficult time locating good aluminum. Last time I talked to them, they said they sent out a limited run but 80% of them got sent back. And as Duncan said, they're hoping to get something out some time later this year.

Dak...I saw that, but I was hoping the guy didn't know what he had.
