I'm having trouble with my 1993 f-350. When i turn the key all i get is a click...I've replaced the battery, the hot cable, the starter and the starter relay, the neutral safety switch tests out to be good. What else is there????
By the way its a 4x4 crewcab with 5.8 L (351) and c-6 tranny if helps. If anyone has any ideas about what I might be overlooking please give a shout
Thanks all

Stumpjumper, welcome to FTF! I'm going to move your thread question up to the gen8-9 forum. There's a lot of knowledgeable folks there that will be able to help you...

Welcome! Will it turn over if you short across the relay? if it will it's either the ign switch or the wiring from it to the starter relay.

It would go in the Generation 8-9 Forum, since it is a 1993 truck.

Don't sweat it though, one of the mods can move it for you.

EDIT: oops - goose beat me to it.

I'm with Don on this one-- check your grounds. You said you replaced the hot but not the ground cable? Why's that?

Not only the ground cable bus also the grounding straps around the truck-- make sure they're connector to where they need to be connected.

Also, just because parts are new don't assume that they work. Food for thought ;)

Sounds like you have a bad spade connector.
Cut back about one inch of wire and crimp on a new one.
The spade connector is at the end of the wire coming from the starter relay and is plugged into the starter solenoid mounted on the starter.

Here is a diagram:

mine does that everyonce in a while used to be able to play with the battery cables and it would start. but over christmas it would not start. so i took the starter off had it tested. it tested fine.

Since where the starter mounts is mainly the ground on my truck. I sanded the chit out of the mounts. and it started right up

Starter maybe try hittin it with a hammer on the side of the starter to free it up.

Thats the last thing to do . The newer starters have glued in magnets and hammer breaks them up.

But I have the same problem at times . Ussually just wires . But like SKan said . I have extra rebuilt alt and starters on shelf as things do go bad.

Check on Pass fender make sure all wires r tight . Even the small plug on wire. Good luck.
