No spark/no fuel

First off, I would like to say hello. I am a new member, but in an attempt to not be a post whore I'm getting straight to the point of why I joined. About a year ago, I jumped in my truck (1995 Full Size Bronco 5.8/e4od) and to my disappointment there was no fuel prime. It's been more of a toy/reeeeally bad weather vehicle to me so it wasn't a priority. I toyed with it a bit here and there. New fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. You normal tune-up stuff. The pump relay went bad on me once before, but that was a matter of cleaning up some wires and putting in a new relay. That was about a month before it really went south. Anyways, fast forward to now and I'm getting serious about figuring out the problem. It cranks just fine but has no spark and just enough fuel pressure to dribble out of the test port. Shop told me "$500 for a new pump and it'll be good as new" but I don't buy that considering it lost spark as well. Unfortunately, since the truck has sat so long, I can't seem to pull codes. This led me to question the PIP sensor. My symptoms are 1) no spark 2) fuel pump not priming 3) when I try to pull codes, 9/10 it acts like it can't communicate with the computer and when it does, I don't get anything. Kind of like it just "freezes" while I'm waiting. I'm no electrician, so I'm a bit overwhelmed and not really sure where to start.

Something I'd be curious about to 'investigate' the problem would be how good your ground is. It will be hard to put a load on your electric system if it won't start, but find a piece of the frame away from the ground and test the voltage. Find some loose wire in your garage, attach it to a piece of the frame (not right next to the battery) and run that wire up near the battery. Hook your multimeter to the wire and also your battery positive post.

To me it sounds like you're getting 8-9 volts. It could be anything, but that's a free way to make sure you're getting power.

Ok, so just anywhere on the frame? You said away from "the" ground, but I'm not sure which ground you're referring to. As soon as the weather clears up, I think if got a set of little jumper wires I can clip to the frame and my meter. It's just strange that everything else works (lights, horn, wipers, etc). The truck did have a remote start system on it, but to the best of my knowledge it wasn't a security system. All it could do was start the truck when I bought it. It hadn't worked very well for quite awhile before this happened though.

In my own world
Fuel pump won't come on if no signal from the distributor, so don't replace fuel pumps until you do some more trouble shooting
Like stated by Ryan, check your grounds. All of them. On the older efi's there was 2 small ground wires that came off the neg battery terminal, and went in the harness at the core support. People would change the battery cable ends, and not get these in.

Another thing to look at, your tfi module is on the driver's inner fender, it could be corroded , and not getting a ground. Lastly, there is a ground wire that comes out of your computer harness, and goes to the driver's fender, right near the tfi

Check to make sure you have key on and constant power to your EEC relay. The computer turns on the fuel pump relay.
