No Injector pulse

Ok Ford techs,

I have a 5/95 F250 460 fuel infected, 4x2, manual trans beat up, stripped down truck. It had been sitting for a time and started approx once a month with no problems. I pulled the truck out a while back, it would not start. It needed some body work so accomplished that before tackling the runability of it. After replacing the fuel pump and filter, cleaning the fuel tank, still no run. I have since: replaced the plugs and fuel pressure regulator. What I have is: Fuel pressure of 38 to 40 psi, good compression and ample spark. All fueses are good and there is power everywhere, but no injector pulse. The injectors show to have power but no fire. The engine will run on starting fluid, but will not start other wise. I can find no codes in the computer. Asking around, people have questioned the pip in the distributor, but I do not know how to test it.

Please help me!!!! Any other Ideas or tests that I should do????

Thank you in advance,

Don

Your camshaft position sensor is where the impulse to fire the injectors comes from. That impulse will also go through the module (PIP).

Your camshaft position sensor is where the impulse to fire the injectors comes from. That impulse will also go through the module (PIP).

PURPOSE
The Camshaft Position (CMP ) sensor utilizes a hall effect sensor to provide crankshaft position, base timing and engine speed information to the Ignition Control Module (ICM ). The ICM supplies this information to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM ) as the Profile Ignition Pickup (PIP ) signal. The PCM uses this information for fuel injector timing and calculating ignition timing advance and dwell.

CONSTRUCTION
The CMP sensor is located within the distributor and is comprised of a hall effect switch and a camshaft driven 8 bladed shutter plate.

OPERATION
Each blade on the shutter plate corresponds to a separate position on the crankshaft. As the shutter plate passes through the hall effect switch the output of the sensor alternates from 0.0 to 12.0 volts in a square wave pattern. This output is sent to the ICM where it is converted to the PIP signal.

I had a similar issue, and it turned out to be a ground wire at the battery. The injectors actually alternate the ground to pulse, and apparently this wire was used for that purpose.
