no gas

I have a 2000 ford F-250 5.4 gas.. last month it began having starting problems. No gas getting to fuel rail. if I keep cycling the ignition eventually the gas would kick in and it would start. after starting it would run fine and never starve for gas. ive replaced the fuel pump relay and the fuel filter. (ive never heard of a fuel pump acting like this). Now it isn't getting gas and wont crack..any ideas? thanks

Yep, fuel pump. They'll allow fuel to drain back into the tank causing a hard start/no start.

I've always thought when a fuel pump went out, that was it. didn't realize it would work intermittently.

Not so much intermittently, just possible to have several symptoms.

Vince does the 10th gen have those accident fuel cut off switches like they have on the cars? I know theyre designed to break the electrical connection preventing the transmission of the electricity going to the pumps... wondering if that might be causing his issues too if that was going bad...

Anything (Ford motor company)with fuel injection will have the inertia switch. If it was thrown, it wouldn't start no matter how many times you cycle the key.

Impeller is worn on his pump. It pushes a small amout of fuel, but not enough

was thinking it might have been shorting out or something instead of it being popped like a breaker...

what had me wondering about the switch vs the pump itself was that he stated once it would start he didnt have problems with it running or keeping pressure.
