Welp-

a 300-6 in combo with a manual and Factory A/C is readily available used, because Ford pushed so many of them out the door new. There was a value package that also included the XLT Trim level, and they sold a gazillion of them. Shouldn't be hard... or expensive to find.

+1 for '92-'96 F150's. Actually, I prefer '92-'95 (pre- OBD II).

I'm not a 5.0 fan in a full size truck...if you're willing to go 5.0, you may as well go with the 5.8, it'll yield the same mpg's with more power. IMO...the 5.0, in stock form, is entirely too underpowered to be in a full size rig.

Alright, found my relocated post...so, I need a: 1992-1995(pre OBDII, backward/prior year parts compatibility/interchangeability, capable of mass air conversion, plenty of ext. cabs available, air conditioning/creature comforts, etc.)f150 with 5.8L and a stick shift, right? Which transmission? Or, what are my(manual)options? Wikipedia doesn't tell me this...confusion.

Sounds like you damn near have you truck dialed in...I can't help you on what manual trannies were available, I'm an auto kinda guy...but if for some reason you do go auto, go with a 94-95 because the E4OD was prone to electrical gremlins before then.

The only manual offered in the Gen 9 F150's were the M5OD-R2.....the F250's got the better ZF 5 speed. Anything before that is a toss up between the M5OD and the T18 (4 speed).

How hard would it be to swap a ZF in place of an M5OD(should said M5OD meet an untimely demise...heaven forbid)?

I wanted to touch on the Mass Air Flow in your previous post. I know they were available before 1996 depending on what state they were in. I know 1995 they existed. 1994 might be a stretch, but if there is such a thing, it would exist in California.

Sounds like the ZF swap is the ticket when that time comes.

So, if the factory mass air s/u existed in '95 was it OBDI or OBDII? Sounds like a time of flux...I'll just go for that '92-'95 range, maybe dbl. check the diagnostic connector, and do the conversion(eventually). Otherwise, I'd have to be pretty lucky to find one of the few '95s that was mass air. Although, it would probly be pretty easy to ascertain in the age of CarFax, and other VIN demystifiers...I don't want to be looking forever!

I have a 95 250 5.8l 4x4 and a zf5.
Great truck, absolutely fantastic, i think the rear end gears are wrong for the trans gears, but it will pull a house.
