Newbie from Georgia

Hey everyone

I'm Mike I'm 24 (just turned it yesterday lol) and from the great state of Georgia. I found this site and wanted to join to meet other Ford truck fans.

Sadly I dont have one yet but I'm saving money to get one soon. But I do have a 1992 Volvo 240 wagon (the brick). My Dad gave it to me last year. Its a great car. No its not fast and yeah most people think its ugly lol. But its super reliable and safe. Plus most of the time its the only one in a parking lot lol. I look forward to meeting yall.

God Bless

Mike

Thanks for the welcome! Ive found an 89 F150 that I'm looking at. I'm just wanting to save a little more money. Its taking me a little bit longer because I wont trade my brick (Volvo 240) in lol. The funny part is when I was given the Volvo in 2009 it was to use as a trade but after driving it and hearing about the reputation it has I decided that I wont get rid of it lol.

I have a friend of mine here in Maine that will ONLY drive a volvo and has a few of them in his yard for parts. I guess if you can fix them and find parts they are German engineered......so they should last.

Try keeping the Volvo and work on getting a Ford that may or may not be road worthy and put a little elbow grease and a few wrenches to get it to respectable over time.

German? Mine was made in Sweden (says so under the hood lol) the 240 is the old school one. Oh yeah I'm keeping it because I like having two vehicles so that if one dies I still have something to drive lol. Once I have both the Volvo and the Ford I will be content lol

I am not very mechanical and get a lot of help (as I need it on here) for things I may be able to do myself.

I've always associated Volvo and VW (which is German made)....my bad. Volvo's are made in Sweden. Years ago, I ran the heck out of a VW Golf and I could not kill that thing.

Welcome to the site. Volvos are pretty reliable, but reminds me of a funny story. A guy who only loved volvos was bragging about how it was the best car ever built and it would outlast my truck. He went to go home and came back about 30 minutes later on a tow truck, which I found quite amusing. Post up some pics. Also there is a Geogia chapter if you are interested in joining. Just tell Austin you wanna join.

It's good to want to learn more. If you don't learn something new everyday you aren't trying hard enough. I've been fixing cars for a long time now and I'm always learning something new.

Thanks for the welcome. I dont brag about reliability cos I figure the first time I do it will break and thats for any vehicle I ever have lol.

Ive always love Ford trucks. My Grandaddy is a Ford truck guy and pretty much any place I have worked at that had work trucks were all Fords. So naturally thats always the one I want cos I know how good they are.

The Volvo thing has been recent. And its just the Volvo 240 I dont care about the other Volvo models lol.
