New truck/questions

Hey guys, haven't been on here for a while. I'm getting another truck, it's a 75 f-150 4x4 with a 390, headers/duel exhaust, racing cam, 4"lift and 32" tires. engine is rebuilt, almost everything except the bed is like new. I will post pictures once I get it, which won't be until the end of next week because it is getting work done at a garage. Anyway, it doesn't have a headliner and I was wondering if anyone has bought one of those fancy ones with the speakers in them, like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/73-7...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories what is your opinion of it? also what size tires can I fit with the 4" lift, and can I get some that will go on the same wheels? here is the ad, the guy never bothered to remove it. http://lancaster.craigslist.org/cto/1696425422.html thanks.

Congrats on the buy!

Headliner: I don't have experience with that headliner, but I have put some thought into buying one. They have storage for a CB or your radio head unit. But, the placement of the speakers messes with the sound stage of the speakers. (Ideally, you want all speakers to be in front of you, as high as possible) I think that having the speakers behind and above your head would be... funky.

I thought about buying a headliner like that but then decided I didn't want speakers right above my head. I like in the ad he says that this will help to aavoid destroying the door panels. I wonder why so many people cut holes in the door panel to install speakers when you can just remove the door panel and put a speaker in the hole LOL.

I guess it might be a little strange, but the main reason I hesitate to buy it is the price. when I took my door panels off to replace speakers they actually broke in a few spots where the clips go, even though I tried to be careful and had the right tool, I will be replacing those eventually. Now that I'm getting another truck I will have something else to drive so I can work on my 77. I should post pics of my headers/duel exhaust and cd player I put in.

I'm a skeptic, so the whole truck seems a little shady to me...why 'fix up' a truck only to have someone buy it as soon as it gets out. And the typical procedure for buying something is, they take the add down if there is a deal made. And if he really is doing a good deed, why not complete the job and to the wheel wells, $70 in replacement panels, a couple hours welding and painting and that's done for extra couple hundred. Have you actually seen this truck? Heard it run? Driven it?

Anyway...to answer your questions, I don't have hands one xperience with that headliner, but I have read that they're decent after you replace the speakers with something better. The main complaint is having all that sound right in your ear though.
With the lift, you should be able to fit a 35x14.5 or 36x12.5 tire. As for the rims...will they work...dunno didn't see a size. With a bigger diameter tire, you may have radius arm rubbing and possibly body panel rubbing. If the back spacing is proper, you shouldn't rub with the tire sizes I suggested. Also, if they are 8" rims...a 14.5" wide tire will fit on them, I just don't like the look and tread wear. If they are a 10" wide rim...you should be good to go.

He says hes selling it because he can't afford the gas and he doesn't like it that much, he said he only keeps cars a few months. The day after I decided to buy it he drove it to work and it broke down, which is why it is at the garage, they are putting on a fuel pump, water pump and timing chain. (I think they are ripping him off, he showed me a bill from there for $1,400 to do exhaust to pass the emissions test which I don't understand because mine is 2 years newer and is exempt.) Anyway, I have seen it and ridden in it. Thanks for the tire advice, I don't know the rim size but the tires look pretty wide.
