New to this

Hi All. I am new to this so here goes. I have a 86 F150 with a really sick 302. I also have an 88 F250 with a fresh 6.9 and 5spd. I am wanting to swap the 6.9 to the 150 and would like to know if this is possible, and if so how big of a job it would be. I would like as much info as possible before I get in way over my head.
I have looked at other sites and you guys looked like you could help. Don't want to be a pain so please be patient. Thanks a bunch. Schooney

It is very doable, but it also depends on your mechanical ability also; There are some distinct differences that you will have to deal with....

Here is a bronco swap. so you can get an idea of what your dealing with...

I t depends all ion what all you are willing to do. Might be as far ahead to swap bodies over swapping the powertrain. Is there any particular reason you want to swap the motor/trans only? Or just hadn't thought about a body swap?

6.9 swap

Hello Fellro. The frame on the 250 is bent in 4 places. The 250 is an extended cab and the 150 is reg. I have a deck and lots of spare stuff for the 150. They are both 4x4. The 150 has about 100,000 mile on it but the cab and frame are clean and strait. I should have gave more info to start. Still new at this. Thanks. Schooney

That explains a lot....lol. The extra weight will possibly make it ride a bit lower, so might have to do a little something there. Take a look at the frame where the oil filter is for the 302. It likely stick through the frame there. You will want to fill that in, then the rest should about be bolt in. You will take your motor towers off, then use the plates from the 250. All the holes are there, except possibly the one where the big hole is for the filter. The rad support will be another headache, if you have the common deep radiator. Other than that, the rest shouldn't be too big an issue. You can toggle the glow plugs, or wire them for automatic function since you have the newer controller, and make some kind of indicator light if you so choose.
