new to forum, 4low issue

whats good guys, i just got a 95 f150 xlt and my first problem is 4low doesnt work so even tho ill rarely use it at the most i still want it to work
and advice as to what to check is appreciated first 4x4 ive ever had

Is it manual or electric shift?

I'm not real familar with those, but I think that the motor and/or the connections/harness can be the problem...more often the harness.

Pretty sure the more knowledgeable guys will chime in in short order.

Welcome to FTF.
You should be in park or out of gear with the clutch in to go in to low lock. You can't be moving to go into or out of low.

Make sure your foot is on the brake as well. You need the brake pedal signal to make the shift. If the brakelights don't work, it wont shift.

shift into 4h
drive 15-20 feet to lock hubs and put transfer case into 4h
Stop, hold foot on brake, put trans into park. KEEP FOOT ON BRAKE
hit 4l button
light will come on, truck will be in 4l

Put in gear and go slow......LOL
Repeat this to get it back into 4h, or you will rip the transfer motor off the transfer case.
