New project, 78 F150 4x4 shortbed

I know, this will make Tex cry, I now will have a shortbed... Standard cab, 4x4, 351M auto, lift kit already on it... My friend bought it for the tires, and being he is a Chevy guy, he didn't have any use for it, and figured I would do something with it, so he gave me the truck... There isn't much sheet metal wise that is good, the cab needs fixed to be saved, everything is rusted out pretty bad. But if some of you recall, I have that red and white shortbed as well... the front clip, driver's door and most of the box are in good shape. I will have to fix the damage to the passenger side of the box, but that is it. So I have most of the sheet metal parts there that I need. I could even sacrifice my 77 2wd for this one, as it has a good cab, not sure on that just yet. I picked up another set of tires and rims for $50... the rims are from an 87 , factory style with beauty rings and center caps... now if only I had the time to deal with getting it done...

I appear to have been neglecting my gallery, or something, thought I had more on there. Have to see what I can do about that... Once I get this new beast home, I'll have to get some pics of it.

Another dent being put back on the road. I like it. I bet it'll be a pretty sweet lookin truck. I always liked the 4x4 short beds. Progression pics will be mandatory...hahaha.

No, the 77 is a longbed. It has the storage box in the side as well... I'm likely to avoid using a lot off the 77, as I hate to destroy it, and the majority of what i need will be supplied by the supercab that got all smashed up by some moron with a forklift.

It's home!

It looks pretty good in the pics, but in person, it is pretty rough. Pay attention to the passenger bedside... the wheel house is way gone, the rear support is so far gone it leans over. The rust showing through the paint pretty much are all holes...

I also got those pics in my gallery of my intake work for the 86...

Oh man...that doesn't look bad at all...the pics make it look like some quick 1/4 panel and wheel well work and the exterior will be good to go. That's probably one of the best lookin free trucks I've seen. Keep us updated.

Looks are very deceiving... the box is trash, the supports are all pretty much gone, to the point a PO had stacked nuts to keep the floor from falling. The bed floor is full of holes, the bottoms of the doors are gone, the fenders have holes rusted through on both of them, the hood even has a rust hole.I will probably try to salvage the cab, as it just needs some floor pan work, the cab mounts were actually pretty good, but may be a surprise when I get into it. I was surprised with all the rust that the inner fender wells were still solid. Those plastic liners work pretty good... I'll have to get some closer pics...

This is what you couldn't see in the other pics...

Ouch...you were right. Should be relatively easy fixes though...just a bunch of busy work.

Other than the floors and the bedside, it all is simply turning a few bolts... It would be a different story if I didn't have the other truck sitting there...

That's for sure...it would be a loooooot worse for your wallet at least. I have a question though...how do you plan on fixing the cancer on the floor at the end of the bed? Luckily, mine was good...and I always wondered how guys fixed that section.

I don't plan on fixing the box, all the others supports are hashed too. I have another box that needs the passenger bedside, but the rest of the box is largely rust free. It was apparently fate that I should have another shortbed sitting here with no title, and the cab damaged badly anyway....
