Hi guys I have a 1962 F100 stepside truck. Now its got the straight 6 and a 4 speed with granny. I dont know a a lot about american trucks yet. 19 yrs old only really owned 3 datsun projects.
Well anywho I have this 62 f100. It runs and shifts great!(has the 6cyl 4speed on the floor) and drive..well not so great the steering is loose. and the breaks are well working but not great. so in need of some help..
What I wanna know is how to fix the loose front endl. I figured bushings and stuff like that but then I got thinking well what kind of steering is this? (havent really looked at it closly enough) I fairly certain its got a steering box and figured because of its age that could be bad and just need repaced or adjusted in some way? Or a steering stabilizer? Any help is appreciated.
And about the brakes? I tried some searching, but I was hoping to convert the truck to front disk brakes. I was hoping I could use some later model ford pickup with the same lug configuration? what years would that be? would I also have to convert the master cylinder over to a later year as well or no?
Thanks
