New Guy on the block

I have been meaning to join your group for some time, now of course the necessity is there.
I own a 1999 F350, 4X4, crew cab, duelly, 7.3 diesel, turbo.
My son used the truck and when he started it the battery light went on and stayed on till he got home. He shut the truck off and restarted it, no battery light.
I used the truck the next day to transport a couple of my horses. I started it with no problem, drove it to the barn and shut it off, an hour later restarted it and moved it to the other side of the barn with no problem and shut it off.
I loaded the horses and went to start it, only clicking. Got the chargers out and connected to both batteries. Started the engine. The air bag light came on and stayed on and the battery gauge showed the system was not charging. Drove the horses to their destination an hour away. Shut the engine down and it wouldn't restart. I was smart enough to bring the chargers which I left on for the day. I came back about 6 hours later started up, air bag light did not come on, gauge showed system was charging ok. Next day truck started fine. Mechanic said he can't do anything until he sees the same thing happen to him.
Anyone out there know what happened? I don't want to make a trip and find out its a bigger problem. Thanks, Greg

Have your batteries tested

Still can't figure this out

I let the truck sit for four days. I tested both batteries everything showed fine. I started the truck up and drove it to the auto store to let them run a check also. The battery tester showed both batteries were in good shape. I started up and went home. I worry about going to Home Depot or somewhere else and the truck doing the same thing. Anyone know if there could be a short I should look for. The airbag light staying on all day makes me wonder if there isn't a short linked to one of the airbags some how. Any more ideas out there. Thanks, Greg

Did they put a cell tester on them or just a volt meter?

They used their standard digital tester with the cool paper printout. The batteries are two years old, guaranteed for three years and bought by my wife from Costco (I know, warehouse stores have the worst batteries). Maybe I should just junk em and buy quality.

All batteries are going to meet a minimum standard...whether you got Napa ones or warehouse brand ones, they will be pretty much the same...differences come in with AGM's.
Did the output they gave you indicate what the load test was?
