I used to use that stuff Jurg...but I still prefer RTV blue...just feel it seals better of the two permatex products.

Hey Jurg...is that last pic you posted the brownish sealer? I've used that in the past too...it always took forever to dry for me...but once it did, there was no gettin it off...so no reusing gaskets.

Yeah...that's what I though. I use it with cork gaskets...like I said, it takes forever to dry but once it does, it seals like no other. I also like it due to the brush, it helps lay a better more complete coat.

yupp Benn i like it so far.. i just coated back of the pump to the back plate gasket.. and later when the sun gets more forgiving i will put it on the back plate of the pump to the timing cover gasket on both sides a thin coat..

catch what i mean ?

i have a complete day to let it dry i wont start the truck until tomorrow

One more thing to do. Make sure when you take the heater hoses off to flush it backward. Run clean water through it both directions just to make sure no cork is in there to plug up the core.. It wouldn't hurt to reverse flow the radiator while you're at it. I don't think there's any place in the water jackets in the engine where cork bits can hang up, but again flush it good with water while you have the WP off. Can't go wrong rinsing everythiing out after this kind of failure.
