got the chance to run the casting number on the heads. they are from an 1984 351W high output 4 bbl carb. it makes me wonder what else has been done to this motor. would those heads be a upgrade from e7 heads?

E4 heads would be 65-69cc chambers and a tad more restrictive than the E7 heads. Remember that stuff was made for the tree-humpers to be environmentally friendly....'peace' If you could find them look for the C9/ D0 351W heads. Bigger valves and flow better....

Or save up and get some GT-40 heads from a Lightning.....:cooldude:

You said it had a plate attached? I'm swinging toward remanned engine. Pull the castings from the block...they'll be just above the starter.

well why the heck would they be swapped on to the 88? this is making no sense.

Parts is parts . I used to take what ever I had that was good and put it together . Who know but its a rebuild like said

If its a reman engine, te they take whatever cross-refs and build it to "like specs" and hopefully it will work. I'd actually pullthe casting from the block and see what it is first and then go from there as far as what head to use ...[confused]
