1977 Ford LTD II. It was my first car, bought it when i was 15, for 500bucks, for my birthday my dad got it all painted and what not. Had 62,000 miles on it. 351W/FMX trans with a 9 inch rear end. I took it off the road when i got my 79 F150 for about a year, retagged it and drove it for a while and it jumped time, its been sittin in my parents garage ever since. That was in late 2006.

But anyways....i thought id post a few pics of it cause i figured if you like the 70's trucks maybe a 70s car could get some love to!

Buy a timing set, check for any bent valves and get that thing back on the road man. Good looking ltd.

I pulled the heads and got the valves fixed. I have the whole front of the engine tore down to the crank pully but i cant get it off (when i turn the bolt the whole engine turns over).

Thats when i became frusterated and left it sit. Other then a few bolts and things ive lost and the alternator going on a 79 4wd it would take very little to get it going again.

I would like to do it this spring or summer...what is the trick to getting that pully off???

I found on the internet that the cheap LTD II "S" models (baseline) were rare with the 351W....most had the 302....anyone know anything about that?

Do you have any impacts??? That should be able to get it. If you don't have any air tools, grab a long piece of tubing or pry bar of sorts...wedge it in between the bottom of the pulley and the inner fender, have someone hand off the wedge and hopefully that offers enough resistance to break her loose. Then you'll need a pulley puller to get the pulley off.

I have an impact but didnt have an air compressor strong enough to run it...but now i do :)

So an impact and a pulley puller, got it. I bought a early (pre emission) timing set for it, i think i orderd it for a 69 or 70 mustang....i was thinking it might give me some more oomph....true or no? Will it even work? its for a 351W.

I have been known to put a vise grip on the flywheel to keep it from being able to turn... Looks nice, those have become somewhat rare.

I have always loved the LTD IIs, my parents had one when i was like 5, it was a royal blue 4dr brougham, nice car, and its the first car i rememeber riding in, thats why i bought one :)

I have noticed that their numbers seem to be dwindling. You use to be able to find them on ebay pretty easy, but now your lucky to find one. The 78's and 79's seem to be more plentiful then the 77's.
