My 1979 f150 custom

My name is Dominic. I recently purchased a 1979 f150 custom and I love it. It needs some work and tlc but it's worth it. I am having issues with the tailgate as of right now. It won't come down. Idk if the latches aren't disengaging or what. Also my blinkers won't work. If you could help Id be grateful. Like I said it needs some serious tlc so if there is anything else you could offer advice on that's great.

Have you tried chacking the flasher or replacing it?
