this guy was always good to us, so I'm hoping he'll have a semi-reasonable explanation. I took her to him trusting him. but I try to do my own work, or a least a friend, for this reason.

I had a loose collector bolt & nut,exaust leak where the pipe bolts
to the manifold.I lost some of the power from the engine because
of it.

A leak on a stock manifold is not good,however,if it was a header,I
would have gained power,because normally a header collctor is further
down away from the valves.
The closer the leak is to the valves the more power you lose.

Ahh ok..

I had a 74 Lemans sport coupe with a 400,mild cam.it had an exaust
leak,It lost power.This was back in 82,I wish I still had the car because
now,I would be able to run headers,the 74's are smog exempt now..

The stock had those smog tubes that ran off of them...

Lol...they think their helping smog,but they are not considering the
population growth,which there is more an more people being borned
to drive.
Calif. population rate these days,is getting outta hand.I cant even fart
with out my neighbor smellin it...
