Motor for a V10

I am looking at a 99 f250 that has a bad motor that was a V10. The guy told me that he was told that a 5.4 would drop in and I have since been told no. I was alos just told that a 460 will bolt up to it. I know the old motors but nothing about the V10. Can anyone tell me what will bolt up to a V10 tranny.
Also, someone said that the 5.4 and the V10's have serious manifold issues, can anyone verify if there is any truth to this?

The massive amount of computer controls in the truck will need another v10 unless you get new computers and a pretty expensive/thorough modification.
