Moms new Ford

Yea, I know guys. It's not a truck. But Moms excitement just rubbed off on me. I got to share this amazing story. She was driving her old sick Pontiac with over 300,000 miles on it. When she was getting ready to leave (she does maid service) she asked them about their Lincoln they had sitting in the front yard. The old gent said he was going to sell it. They had bought them a NEW one. This Lincoln, the air conditioner blower had stopped working and the old couples answer was just to buy a new car! How would you like to have money like that just laying around?

Mom asked them what he wanted for it, knowing there was no way she could get it. The elderly lady spoke up and said. 'How about 6 months of free cleaning?' Can you believe this! The car is a 2001 Lincoln Signature series with 67,xxx miles on it! That's it! The inside and outside is just showroom fresh except for a small spider crack, bottom right side rear plastic bumper. It's triple awesome! They got rid of it just because the air conditioner quit. Now Mom will have to have that fixed. I checked all the fuses under dash and under the hood. (owners manual) They are good. So, she will have to take it somewhere when she can. Mom said she basically got it for about $450 considering the frequency and time she spends at this couples home.

Oh, and for a big car! It kicks azs! Anyway, here is my Mom and her new buggy.

That is a really good deal ! and is a nice tidy looking car - hopefully all it needs is the aircon recharged.

Great Story and what a great car for your mom. Keep it cleaned washed and wax for her.

Thanks guys!

Oh yea, it came off a potato farm. It was not as clean and shiny as it appears in the pic. Ridge runner, that photo is near four hours of work getting down to that shine. The inside just needed a good vacuum and some Maguires leather cleaner/conditioner. (love this stuff, smells good) But yes, lots of field dust removed and I put the turtle wax to it. Scrubbed them wheels out with hot water, dawn and a toilet brush, then I put the Armor all to the tires. Thats actually the reason for her smile. I did all this while she was working. She had no idea what was actually under the dust.

I'm sure everyone feels the same about their mom. But my mom is very special. She has had a hard life. She had an abusive dad and her husband was mean to her. She was in a bad car accident when she was 18 and came very close to dying. She actually died three times on the operating table. (If you don't believe in life after death? You ought to hear my moms story to what she experienced. What a mind blower!) She has had gray hair since she was 25. She has worked hard keeping us together and keeping 'things' together in general and keeping us in what we needed. She deserved this good deal. She needed a good car for her business really bad. To those who believe in such things? This is actually an answered prayer.

Thanks again guys! Oh, I love the color also. It's called 'Charcoal green' I would paint my truck this color if I could. I think it's an awesome color.

Oh hey guys? The air compressor seems to kick on but no blower fan inside. It has this 'climate control' thing going on. I turned the heater on when it was cool in the morning, it was around 60. I turned it up as high as the digital reading went, to 85 and no blower. I suspect maybe the fan/blower motor is bad? Or maybe the climate control unit? I'm sure the shop can hook it up to a machine that can tell us what's up and at least get a diagnosis for not to much money? Later guys. Thanks again

Typical codes won't show anything on climate control. There is a chance that the motor is out. Can you change the fan speed and get anything, or out an all speeds? It would work on high, but not any other speed if the resistor was bad typically, but not always. Best thing to do is find out if there is power at the blower motor. If there is, and it doesn't work, the blower motor is likely bad. Not an uncommon problem unfortunately. It would also make the a/c seem to not work, as there is no airflow. It is normal for the a/c pump to cycle, it just depends how fast it cycles. The fact that it cycles at all is a good sign.

A simple testlight will determine if power is getting to the blower motor or not. Like Fellro said, it's most likely either the blower motor or the resistor.

Great story- thanks for sharing!

Blower motor, as mentioned, or the control head (thingie on the dashboard). They were famous for going out because of heat and/or moisture. Same unit as on the Marquis, as I recall. $50 at a wrecking yard, and it's plug 'n play.
