Modify the steering column angle/position?

Anybody here ever modify the angle/position of a non-tilt steering column?

Got the bench seat in the '91 Bronco and the steering wheel is in the way
of my clutch leg! :( What the heck was Ford thinking? ..."sell tilt" maybe?

The angle and placement of the steering wheel reminds me of 70's Chevys. :(

Here's what I think of "tilt"...

...it was broken before I even got it.

Got any ideas besides tilt? :)

Like...
Sell all that Wedge Side crap and start over with a Dent Side Bronco. LOL :)

Dust-devil bent the hoods on both the '91 F150 and Bronco last week! :(

Just picture how many dust-devils/whirlwinds and worse my '75 has endured
without -anything- getting bent. LOL :)

Pulled my steering wheel out 1+1/8" and slightly raised it at the same time! :)
I like it a lot! LOL :)

It now fits me more like the '75. :)
Got room for my knobby knees under the steering wheel now. :)

Before I go into all the details on how, anybody interested in doing that?

BTW it messes with the gap between the plastic column cover and the dash
cover. No sweat for me, I've got it figured out how to cover the column and
hide everything except the emergency flasher knob and turn signal lever.

YMMV on that part?

(used a hoof rasp after hacksawing the bump off ;)

Good work! The 2005 F150 feels like the wheel is 34 feet away, and I miss the configuration of the 94. Wonder if it's modifyable....

Glad you got it figured out. What exactly did you do to get it where you wanted?

Yeah sorry, I was expecting company and was feeling rushed. :/

It's easy and a guy could try it out and not burn any bridges even. :)

I'm working on a '91 Bronco with a manual-column out of a '90 F250.
Don't know nuthin' about no automatic crap. ;)

-----------------------

I took the thick aluminum cradle out and just eyeballed where the best
place the two new holes should be. They were for the two vertical bolts
that go though the slotted-break-away-plates on either side. Turned out
to be about 1+1/8" from the center of the slots, so that's how much I
ended up moving it.

I removed the plates and burned-bridges ;) because I have another one
around here someplace. I figure a guy could remove the plates and put
them back on tho. But I cut the wings off mine with a hacksaw.

With the plates removed that raises the column a little and it actually
shoved the dash up a little when I bolted it down tight. LOL :)

The rubber boot at the firewall was extra-easy for me to loosen because
I was the one that set mine up several months back. YMMV on that part.

I bolted the cradle back into place leaving a good 1/8" gap on both sides
so I could slide the column back into its new place and line it up with the
four super-short angled bolts. ...the whole works slid almost too easy. :)

Anybody gonna try it? :)

Another way to do it would be to just use -two- of the four super-short
angled bolts and drill two new holes for them any place you wanted. :)

Don't have to mess with the slotted-break-away-plates that way either.
