I have a marine 351W engine that upon tear down doesn't make any sense.
It's a '74 block ... D4AE 6015 AA3 w/ a date code of April 14 '76 (6D14)
The crank is from a 289 stamped 1M haven't found any casting #'s yet. And has a 3 bolt balancer C9OE 62SD by the timing marks and 6316 cast into then face.
Rods from a 302 casting # is D6OE
Pistons are from a 351??? has 351W cast into the skirt and D3OE 6110A on the inside of the skirt.
Heads are a '75 model D5AE
the timing cover casting #'s are C9JE 6059 and has the built in pointer.
Main bearings say STD. but I haven't found any #'s yet.
WTF were they thinking, it's like somebody had a bunch of spare parts and just through them together. I didn't think a 289 crank would work in a 351 block.
