Long Tubes ?

JohnnyBuck

I've been trying to find a set of long tube headers for my '88 F150 with a 5.0. The problem is that my truck has a 4 speed and all the long tubes I have found are designed to be used with an auto. trans.
Thanks in advance for any help...

My buddy got a 86 F250 with a 5.8 and a 4 speed, and we were tryin to get long tubes, but with an old set of my 5.8 auto trans headers, it looked like it wouldnt fit because the clutch slave and line were in the way. There was barly enough room for the stock pipe lol. If you want long tubes anyway your gonna have to make em fit. All 4 F-Series/Bronks ive but headers on, ive had to cut and move pipes to make them fit. Nothing just bolted it WTF, tried all different brands too. Get some nice shorties and get a good header back system make for it.

I havent had a prob with the driveshaft. Usually hits the auto trans pan on everything I got lol.

i had to grind down a flat spot on the drivers side flange to give extra clearance to the driveshaft , it still hits when suspension compresses if it does. But yea you usually have to make em fit your truck

Thanks for all the information.I knew I could get the answers I needed here.I guess what I'm going to do is take the advice given and find a good set of shorties and go from there. Thanks again for all the help.

I have never seen equal length for these trucks, just the fox stang.
