Limey here!

Hey guys.
I'm a English guy who is going to be moving to California soon.
So obviously when I get there I will need a car.
So I will be wanting a truck, we used to have a 2009 F150 when we were in Canada. Which was nice, I loved the road presence, the comfort.

I noticed that you posted a question in the technical forum about the desire for a truck. I think you would be looking for a 76-79 dentside.

These trucks are very reliable with REGULAR maintenance, have a transistorized ignition with a reliable carburetor, and are relatively easy to work on. If you get a '78 with 49 state emissions, the catalytic convertor is not present, either.

Parts, for the most part, are readily available, with some exceptions.

Hey thanks for the reply. As you may guess I want to keep the truck as simple as possible, few electronic gizmo's as possible.

Would they have had catalytic converters back then?
Would it need emission testing and a CAT to be legal in California?

Cannot wait to get my hands dirty!

Catalytic converters would have been required on F-100's on 49 state emissions trucks, but not on F-150's until 1979.

California is a whole 'nother ballgame. You might want to talk to some California people. I'm not familiar with their regulations, before or after.
