Lighted Sun Visor

Can some one give me a quick overview of how the wiring for lighted sun visors was routed??? I know there's a pig tail comes out of the visor, but is there a plug in somewhere with the dome light...or does the visor run it's own course???

Ben, behind the driver side kick panel is the factory wire (brown) that is used for the roof cab lights, tied into the parking lights. :)

I think that's the same one I plug in to for my map lights.

Oh, you will have to drill a small hole on the drivers side roof to fish the visors wiring down the "A" pillar

Wait...what??? Did you say drill??? You don't mean exterior roof do you???

I think Roy was talking about a sun visor that mounts on the exterior?

You are talking about the interior ones with the light on the top side of the visor?

Si...I can get my hands on a black set, and there's a red set on ebay right now. I just have a difficult time paying 2 bills for my passenger to have a 2x3" mirror with enough light to attract half a moth. But they're sooooooo cool, I think I gotta have them. Current visors in Red are black, but I think I could go red, and it wouldn't be too much red.

I have a wiring diagram I will go check...I'm guessing it runs up the pillars though and through the mounting stem.

The wiring is a single wire that runs down the pillar and attaches to a single wire above the glove box.

I don't think driver's side was available for trucks.

If there is, it too would travel to the connector behind/above the light switch via the pillar.

Thanks Dennis...I figured there was a similar connection to what I use for the map light...I just didn't know where it was.

Nope, not offered.

If your buying a light up visor your going to need the OE wiring harness as it had a special plug connector on it. I suppose you could just use regular wire and solder it together. And yes it runs up the pillar and through the center of the shaft on the visor bracket. It originally plugged into the same connector as the glovebox light.

^^^And I'm going to assume that harness is tougher to find in usable condition than the visor itself???

Unless the guy is including the harness with the visor it would be near impossible to find in any condition.

Ben, a simpler, tackier solution would be to use a clip-on mirror with a small button battery. Not as nice, but finding one of those harnesses would be equal to finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. AND, you would be using that pot of gold to pay for the harness.

Just pigtails on both sets

I know I know...I wouldn't even be able to use it, and I rarely have passengers in my trucks...it would just be for the sale of having them.

I have nothing more to add here, but when I saw the thread title, I thought it meant the exterior one also.

Ya, 2 "big ones" are a bit to pay for those lighted visors, but they are cool. I damn near had some black ones for free, but the guy decided the last minute he'd keep em. .
