leaky rear gas tank

shipping was free, but i had to pay $11 or so in handling.

i'm hoping swapping is straight forward - drop it, swap the pump and hang it back up there

Hey Tom... If you've got rusty parts under the truck, you mind spraying some of that stuff on some heavily rusted metal and reporting the effects? I'm still exploring options for eliminating the rust on my undercarriage.

460

I run with scissors.

Thanks for researching the price, I'll order mine from Summit also when I'm ready.

The swap should be easy; just not fun.

I had just filled the 42 gallon tank on my Suburban when the fuel pump went out. My girlfriend was picking me up from work and the Burb died as she was pulling into the lot. I'm lucky it died there because I used one of the forklifts from work to drop the tank and swap the pump.

Anyway, good luck with the repair. :)

luckily my pump still works. i still use the back tank on trips. i'll fiigure how many miles i drive at 19 mpg and get a little less than that. i finish the trip on the front tank. i lose a drip every second or so, but i can burn it faster than that

OLD THREAD ALERT!!

put some of this stuff on the frame a couple hours ago

it went on totally clear, but i kept checking on it every 20 minutes or so and it appears to be covering well and turning black. seems like it's going to look pretty good once i do it all and let it dry. a few cans are black, and a few are gray, so i should be able to paint a lot of the undercarriage and have it look pretty nice

are you going to do your whole frame? At $7 a can, that would get expensive. looks good though.

doubtful. it's expensive and as much as i'd like to think so, i'm not going to be keeping this truck for 50 years. if i had a newer truck, i'd do something similar as a preventative measure. FYI - it took about 2 full cans to do the outside of the driver's side of the frame. so it'd take about 8 cans for the frame only.

Interesting how it goes on clear then turns black... I'm curious how well it'll hold up. Keep us posted Tom.
