Lemme guess ...

Porcelain around electrode went snap, and got stuck between the piston and cylinder wall? I found pieces missing from the plug in #8 and #7, and had a very sick feeling in my stomach for a few days. Apparently, the pieces blew out through the exhaust, though. That was nearly 2 years ago, and it ain't smoking yet. But that truck will NEVER get Bosch plugs in it again. The original Motorcraft plugs had well over 100,000 miles on 'em when I changed them, so I don't know what possessed me to put anything else back in. Like I said, though, ain't happenin again.

pretty close the tip broke off and cause the disater. the problem with our early injected trucks is ford put new technolagy(sp) on old engines and to meet emissions they had to run then so lean that when ya worked'm hard exuast temps would skyrocket, thats why most of us have had or still have cracked exuast manifolds.(after 3 sets i quit changing them) so bein that lean ya dont need a fancy dancy plug to fire that fuel air mixture. i went back to old relieable autolite 25's also. there cheap and they work

I just use normal Motorcraft. Works for me. On my old Dodge though it would foul plugs a lot and I switched to platinum and they didn't foul anymore. But I wouldn't think of using them in my 73. If it doesn't call for platinum plugs just go with what it calls for.
