Installing PA Speaker through firewall?

Hey guys,

I am plugging in a speaker to my CB unit. Wiring it through the door hinge area into the engine block took too much wire (I want to place it behind the grill and I could only reach the radiator fluid box). Is there a way to get it through the firewall, as close to the center of the wall as possible? I tried finding a way with a flashlight and was unable to.

I think you would be best off purchasing a small rubber grommet, drilling a hole in the firewall and putting the grommet in the hole and running the cable through it.

Yup, that's the way to do it. Gives you the routing of the wires where it works out best. Sometimes you can use a grommet already in the firewall. If you do drill, make sure to double check where the hole comes out on the engine compartment side!!

Thanks for all the input. I ended up finding an extension cord that fit my CB and speaker and was able to wire it through the door hinge area.

Now you might hear me say hi to all of you from my truck cab!
