Importing axles to Australia, advice needed!

Importing axles to Aus: advice needed??
Hey everyone ive been talking to an importer about bringing some axles over to Australia. Now incase you are wondering why i might do that i was told a disk brake rear from an 02 F250 (i think) was a $5000 part by a local importer. And i just paid $800 for a secondhand (condition unknown) C6 to suit a 4wd. And there are very few F trucks or broncos in Australian wrecking yards, they are pretty much a niche market over here. Now this importer is telling me its gonna cost about $400 to bring an axle over, plus i need extractors anyhow.

So im thinking of getting a front and rear axle from a later (90's onwards) F truck. I would like disk brakes front and rear. Any ideas on what i should be chasing exactly? As in what year, Dana 70 or Sterling? The front axles are a dana 60 right? A rough idea on price would be good too. The importers yard is in Washington state so if anyone knows any good wrecking yards around there that would be helpfull too.
Thanks heaps!

You want a D60 from a late 80's to mid 90's F350 or a 78/9 D60, the general rule here in the states is if you can find it for less than a 1,000 bucks get it...

The sterling is pretty strong, but the 70 will be stronger but you Will loose some ground clearance with it though.. The other Good choice for a rear axle is a Corporate 14 bolt most commonly found in 3/4 and 1 ton GM trucks Look for the Full Floating version...

3.55 or 4.10. I've seen rumors of 4.56's in trucks with 70's in them (even listed in my shop manuals), but have never actually seen one.

In all honesty, there are probably alot more F-Series truck in Australia than you think, whether they're on the road or in junkyards. I've seen sites for no fewer than 8 Australian junkyards that have these trucks, 3 of which are dedicated to F-Series and Broncos. Trucks are out there in Australia, you just have to find them. You may have to go cross country to get your axles, but it'll probably be cheaper than importing them. You could also score one of those sweet roo bumpers.
