I would check it out myself, but the truck is back at the farm. It is a 300/4 speed out of our 79 F150. Which 4 speed would it be?

18 or 435. The shift pattern is different in location of reverse, but I can't remember which is which.

^^^Hmmm...I did not know that. I thought one of them was left and up and the other was right and down...or something like that.

I just texted (its a word) my dad who happens to be in Hawaii at the moment (The 79 is his truck, I am swapping him the 400/auto out of my Bronco) he told me reverse is right and down, making it an NP435, and it has all new bearings and syncros. They were done at the same time the 300 was rebuilt, and it has less than 5000 miles on it.

Oops! LOL :)

That's the Bump-era T18 pattern tho.

Somewhere along before '75 they changed the pattern to the
same they showed-there for the NP435. No kidding.

For me the easiest way to spot the difference is to get down
and look at the shape of the bottom of the transmission...

Alvin is right. My 79 has the T-18, (even says so on the build sheet) and my reverse is right and down.

Also, I believe I recall seeing "Warner" in raised letters on the side of my trans, a clear indication of a Borg-Warner unit as opposed to a New Process.

Alvin is right.
Oh crap. :(
The world -is- getting near its end. 8-/
(thanks for the credit, JG!:)

Anyway, now the IDing is done, next question someone will ask is how to
swap one out by yourself and actually like doing it, well, this how to pull
one and put it back in by yourself and like it too...

'75 F100 parts truck, 360FE+T18, and no-doubt about it being a T18. ;)
A 2wd T18 (without cast iron bellhousing) only weighs about 150 pounds. :)
An aluminum 2wd ZF weighs about the same.
An FE cast iron bellhousing weight about 32 pounds.

And here's a cool picture, already got the pedal assembly swapped out...
