Well I was layin in bed bout say ohhh 45 mins ago tryin to sleep when it hit me......what if I turn my non use smog pump into an air compressor type thing.....rig somethin up so i have a metal line goin into an air hose into and air chuck or blower nozzle or whatever...but also have a bypass valve....like the wye on a hose bib to run two hoses....that way when i need air in a pinch i could start the truck up flip on the valvle and air up atire.....or blow dirt outta somewhere or sumthin...I know it wouldn't be enough to use airtools but even if it were to air up a low tire...still be great to have...any thoughts?????

Yeah I've heard of guys suggesting this before... I'm not sure exactly how much air that smog pump puts out. I'd be interested to find out though :) Keep us posted on what you find.

ive heard of people making an adapter and plugging it into the sparkplug port.. uses the engine as an air compressor.. heard this on car talk

sparkplug port as in you put an adapter in the engine where the spark plug goes?

wouldn't your engine run bad with no spark and your compressor would end up with gas in it? i must be misunderstanding something

Yeah if you replaced the spark plug with an adapter while the engine was running then you'd flood that cylinder. Not to mention the engine would have trouble pushing the cylinder down without the combustion in the chamber. Sounds like a terrible idea.

We used a Mopar AC compressor in the past works really well . The smog pump dose not build that much pressure.
