Well After 3-4 trips and getting out of truck several times to lock unlock hubs in 1 trip I took the Warn premiums off. And put autos on.

My truck is used on road mostly. And with road changes every 10 ft the autos r fine. If needed I push button and go .

R they better no. Safer possibly on ice conditions like I have .

No stopping get out (hope no one hits u) get in and go. Or the famous front brake grab. with manuals 1 locks they
both do .

To each their own. If I didn't travel for work manuals for sure.

Ahhh 'smiliedoh'

Keep a spare set that you KNOW is good, in the truck. My auto hubs went kapoot and left me stranded in a snowstorm... Ended up costing over $350 for a tow plus snow chains.

The manual hubs aint that bad-- anytime you know you're headed for a slippery spot, just lock them in and leave them. As long as the transfer case isn't engage on the dry stuff then you're fine. Once you leave all the slippery stuff, unlock 'em and keep going.

C'mon I know you ain't THAT old that you can't get outta the truck to lock 'em. 60 ain't that old

Well when you switch from Main (55MPH) to secondary roads (25MPH) and back 6 or 8 times in one trip it gets old quick . especially when u end up on back on ice. Snows different
lock and go .

Its either that or run in 4x4 to avoid both front tires grabbing every time u touch brakes. .

If auto is what you need, then put those babies on there. There's a reason they have automatics...

I keep my hubs locked in this time of year. No matter if im doing 12 20 30 40 50 60 70 or 80 mph, they are locked in. If i feel i need 4x4 i just sit inside my heated truck and push the button, and its in.

I drove to college last winter 3 times a week in snow storms, which was 80 percent highway driving, i still had the hubs locked in. Even went an hour and a half drive on the highway in 4x4 (highway was snow covered).

Id put em back in man. :)

Not changing my mind .Like said I'm tired of both front tires locking when hubs r in a 4x4 isn't . I got new Ford lining, calibers ,rotor (and had them turned )hoses, rear lining,em cables and no better.

I ran the autos last year and they spoiled me. And I am inside heated cab.

I also had mine locked in IF WEATHER was bad. But I drive to many miles the MPG loss sucks.500 miles week at times.I rebuilt front ujiont every 2 years before on other trucks . But I know of people having 200000 on autos .Mine r new. I got 40 ft chain and a coma long in back .

I always just locked the manual hubs in and went in the winter time. No matter what the speed. Just pull the lever inside to engauge the 4X4 as needed. I drove the ranger for 16 years like that and never had an issue.

I did ruin one hub...though not on the road. They need to be cleaned out and re-packed if you are in deep water too much. I was not aware of that at when I first bought mine. OOPS! I was wheeling it a couple of weeks after I bought it. :p

Same here.. I lock the front hubs and forget about it in winter unless I'm going a considerable distance at hwy speeds(70+mph). I have all greasable U-joints in the front axle and I set the bearing caps so there is minimum stiction in the joint(it easily flops around under it's own weight). The joints also get synthetic low temp grease. The results are you can't tell the hubs are locked at any speed under about 60mph, no vibration or extra drag.
